Former superstar has long been hailed as – and we’ve got yet more evidence of that.
The Swiss Superman – who under his real name Claudio Castagnoli – has shown off his ridiculous power during a powerlifting competition earlier this week.
In a clip shared on social media from the contest – which took place on Rivals on Monday – the 41-year-old star can be seen deadlifting 500lbs with minimal fuss.
‘Freaking beast,’ tweeted one fan, while another replied: ‘I genuinely forgot how strong Claudio was. Holy F**KING s**t.’
And a different person wrote: ‘The man is not human I swear!’
Impressive!
The previous night, Claudio was revealed as the replacement for Bryan Danielson against Zack Sabre Jr at AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door months when his contract expired.
The two stars put on a match of the year candidate with Claudio picking up a huge victory in his first AEW appearance, before appearing at the end of the show after the Jericho Appreciation Society went on the attack after Jon Moxley’s win over Hiroshi Tanahashi.
And tonight (June 29) he’ll be joining two of his new Blackpool Combat Club teammates – Wheeler Yuta and Moxley – as well as Eddie Kingston, Santana and Ortiz as they go to war in a Blood and Guts match.
On the special edition of Dynasmite, they find themselves facing Chris Jericho, Sammy Guevara, Matt Menard, Angelo Parker, Daniel Garcia and Jake Hager.
, Yuta exclusively told Metro.co.uk: ‘I didn’t find out until everyone else did! When I was saying he would be a great fit [a few weeks ago], that was all just conjecture and me saying, “Oh yeah that’d be cool!”
‘To see him out there, it’s like, “Wow! This is my new teammate!” It was really cool to see! I’m very excited to see what he’ll be able to do – in AEW in general, but also at Blood and Guts. I’m very excited for that as well.’
