Former President believes that ‘anybody’ can beat his successor in the 2024 presidential election in light of the US ‘going to hell’. Trump said that includes his interviewer Piers Morgan – who in reality would not qualify to run because he is not a natural born citizen of the US.
During the interview released Monday on the newly-launched TalkTV, Morgan asked Trump if he will make a bid for the presidency.
‘For reasons of campaign finance and everything I’m not allowed to say but let me just say this, I think a lot of people are going to be very happy,’ Trump replied, as he has said before. ‘I love our country, our country is going to hell, but I think people are going to be happy.’
Morgan then asked Trump if he thinks he can defeat Biden.
‘I believe right now, anybody’ could, Trump told Morgan. ‘You could beat him right now. Our country’s a mess.’
Trump continued by repeating his false narrative that he ‘won the election by a tremendous margin’. The 45th president claimed, ‘I have massive proof’.
‘All you have to do is take a look at the ballots. The press won’t report on the evidence. This is like a Communist country,’ Trump said. ‘If our country doesn’t have fair elections and borders, we don’t have a country.’
Meanwhile, Biden reportedly told ex-President Barack Obama that he plans to run for re-election and that .
‘I believe he thinks he’s the only one who can beat Trump,’ a source familiar with Biden and Obama’s conversation told last Tuesday.
‘I don’t think he thinks there’s anyone in the Democratic party who can beat Trump and that’s the biggest factor.’
Biden’s approval rating is low, but the source believes Biden is still the strongest Democratic candidate who can defeat Trump. By the the the 2024 election season arrives, the coronavirus pandemic may be less severe and inflation may fall, which could boost Biden’s favorability rating.
