A 10-year-old girl has been arrested after she shot a woman who was arguing with her mum.
Lashun Rodgers, 41, and Lakrisha Isaac, 31, were at a Memorial Day barbecue together when the fight broke out in Orlando, Florida, over a social media post.
Lakrisha handed her daughter her purse, which had a pistol inside.
As the argument intensified, the girl took the gun out and fired two shots hitting Lashun in the head, according to .
According to Rodgers’ boyfriend, who witnessed the May 30 altercation, the mother allegedly initiated a physical altercation by punching Rodgers, who then hit her back.
He tried to break up the fight but Lashun tried to re-engage.
The child then took out the gun and fired two shots at Rodgers. She allegedly yelled ‘she shouldn’t have hit my momma,’ according to the boyfriend.
The child, who has not been named due to her age, was arrested Tuesday and later placed in the custody of the Florida Department of Children and Families. The child’s mother is also in custody.
State Attorney for Orange and Osceola Counties Monique H Worrell said her office is reviewing the case and will ‘consider all of the facts, including the age of the child, and all of the surrounding circumstances, when making a charging decision.’
‘We want to be clear in stating that no charging decision has been made by our office,’ Worrell said, noting that the incident was ‘one of the most tragic cases’ she has seen in her 22-year career.
