Niger Tornadoes frontman Emmanuel Jonas admits Nasarawa United proved stubborn opponents following their 1-0 on Saturday.
Ace midfielder, Jimmy Abdul got his side’s winner with a long range pile-driver shot in the 71st minute.
Jonas enjoyed another impressive outing at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium where he ran half the length of the pitch in a display that kept the visitors backline on red alert all evening.
World-class touches and ball-carrying, there’re those simple stuff he does so well. There are also signs of a good attacking partnership with Idris Munir and Shamsudeen Hashim.
Jonas had a chance to have his name on the score sheet but his strike got saved by the goalpost.
“I am happy, the entire players are delighted as well, as it was a very tough game with so many chances, but we managed to find a way through,” he told Lodgexpress official website.
“At the end we got the win and continue our quest to remain in the league at the end of the season. We needed to win, we achieved it – albeit less than 20 minutes until the final whistle and after a real struggle.”
As it stands, Niger Tornadoes are off relegation zone as they currently sit at 15th position with 40 points from 33 games with a game at hand. They share the same points with teams occupying the 16th, 17th and 18th places respectively.
