Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa, is hopeful that the team will qualify as one the five African representatives at Qatar 2022 World Cup finals as he also nurses the ambition of making his third outing in the football’s biggest showpiece, Completesports reports.

Musa is eagerly anticipating going to the tournament in Qatar as he reckons it could be his last World Cup following his debut at Brazil 2014 edition and his second at the Russia 2018 finals.

But for Musa to keep his dream alive, he must help the Super Eagles defeat the Black Stars of Ghana in the second leg of their 2022 FIFA World Cup African qualifiers playoffs fixture at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium Abuja on Tuesday, March 29. The first leg in Kumasi last Friday ended goalless.

“All the players, including myself want to go to the World Cup. For me, it is very important, because it could be my last World Cup,” Musa told the NFFtv.

“I enjoyed the last two finals that I participated in; Brazil 2014 and Russia 2018.

“I want to experience it again. Most of the players in the present squad have not been to the World Cup and they desire to be there.

“We all know it won’t be easy.
Ghana will come here to do battle, but we are ready for whatever they turn up with. I will not say more than that.”

Musa holds the record as the first Nigerian footballer to score two goals in one FIFA World Cup finals match with his brace in the 3-2 loss to Argentina in the group stage of Brazil 2014 edition. He is also the first Nigerian to score goals in two FIFA World Cup editions – a feat he bagged with his two goals in Super Eagles’ 2-0 win over Iceland in a Russia 2018 Group D match.
