Super Eagles head coach Jose Peseiro has heaped plaudits on the Golden Eaglets following the team’s successful outing at the WAFU B U-17 Championship in Ghana.
The Nduka Ugbade led side defeated Burkina Faso 2-1 in a keenly contested final clash at the Cape Coast Stadium on Friday night.
The Golden Eaglets were clearly the best team in the competition, winning all four games.
The Nigerian boys will also compete at the Africa U-17 Cup of Nations in Algeria early next year.
Nigeria took the lead on 22 minutes when Abubakar Abdullahi nodded home Emmanuel Micheal’s superb cross.
The Burkinabes rallied back with Abdulramane Ouedraogo netting the equaliser three minutes before the break.
Abdullahi however scored the winning goal two minutes into the second half.
“Congratulations to the Golden Eaglets for their brilliant win against Burkina Faso and becoming WAFU B champions! ,”Peseiro wrote on his Twitter handle.
Former Super Eagles head coach and technical director of the Nigeria Football Federation Augustine Eguavoen also eulogised the Eaglets for the wonderful feat.
“Congratulations are in order to the Golden Eaglets. Led by Nduka Ugbade. Massive well done, to the entire Nigeria U17 players and backroom staff! WAFU B Champions ,”Eguavoen tweeted.
